FFVII: Crisis Core Storyline Released
Posted in by Subtle.Edge on July 8th, 2007 |
Square Enix has shed some more light on the story of its upcoming PlayStation Portable title Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. As previously reported, the game’s story begins with Zack and Co. being dispatched to the town of Wutai to investigate the mysterious disappearance of SOLDIER 1st Genesis. Wutai of course happens to be the hometown of Final Fantasy VII’s Yuffie. Today’s update confirms that the self-declared materia hunter will make an appearance in Crisis Core as well. And apparently just like in the original game, she will cause trouble. Meanwhile, protagonist Zack’s senior, SOLDIER 1st Angeal Hewley apparently has to cut ties with Shinra Company for a certain reason. Subsequently, his former employer is going after him. As if this wasn’t already bad enough, Zack has to fight against multiple Genesis Clones. These clones of the MIA Soldier 1st possess an incredible fighting power, making them tough foes. Last but not least, a new character by the name of Shitsune has been revealed in today’s update. Zack meets this female member of the Turks after the Genesis Clones have attacked the city. Shitsune is the youngest person to ever become a Turk.
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII will be available in Japan on September 13th for 5,800 yen ($46.80 US).

FFCC: The Crystal Bearers is revealed
Posted in by Subtle.Edge on May 16th, 2007 |
Square Enix gives us a first look of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers for the Nintendo Wii in the Japanese magazine Famitsu. The game, using the Wii-mote will propose to the player the need to incarnate a super hero who will be powerful at the beginning of the adventure, rather then traditionally progressing your characters strength through-out the game. In addition, it would also be possible to control airships. It was planned to show a playable demo at the Square Enix Party 07, however due to lack of time only a video was shown. Therefore perhaps the playable demo will be available at the Tokyo Game Show 2007 this September.

Final Fantasy XII: International Announced
Posted in by Subtle.Edge on May 11th, 2007 |
Square Enix has recently announced Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System for the Playstation 2. In the standard game, all the character abilities were managed on the License board - a checkered chart that decided what characters can and can’t do in the game. In the new version of Final Fantasy XII, there are 12 different layouts of the license board based on different jobs you can give to characters, opening up a whole new level of complexity to add to the epic game.
One new layout in a featured trailer looked like a spinning dial of sorts. Which job that layout pertains to is anyone’s guess. But from what we can glean in the details given, players can expect jobs like Monk, Red Mage and Uhlan to show up.
Other features include the original English voiceovers, as well as a 16:9 view mode that enables widescreen viewing. A new bonus DVD will accompany the package as well. But in the tradition of Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix + and Final Fantasy X-2: International Edition, Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System looks like a Japan only exclusive. Although no plans have been announced for a U.S. release date, we’ll keep an eye out for any changes.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy Action-Based?
Posted in by Subtle.Edge on May 10th, 2007 |
A magazine scan has surfaced for Dissidia: Final Fantasy and from the looks of things it appears the game is action-based rather then the traditional rpg. It seems Dissidia: Final Fantasy is set to chronicle all the Final Fantasy games from the last twenty years. From the scan you can see Zidane and Kuja fighting, and also a character from the original Final Fantasy game.

Mickey Mouse to play a Greater Role
Posted in by Subtle.Edge on May 8th, 2007 |
As the last two Kingdom Hearts titles were overrun with Disney characters, but no Disney keyblade heroes, Tetsuya Nomura stressed with the next Kingdom Hearts title, the subject and inherent storyline of the title.
“It is not Kingdom Hearts III, but it is an anecdote. I want to explain what Mickey did in the World of Darkness, and also how he got his keyblade. I want to make this [new project] slightly different from the Kingdom Hearts series, and change the system a little. The multi-developing makes me want to put it on something else. If we follow this idea, it would be hard to choose if to make the game for the “Sony PSP“, “Nintendo DS” or the cell phone.”
